2014 DISC Scholarship Winners Rise to the Challenge

By: Tina Shaffer

This past season, the Destination Imagination Scholarship Committee (DISC) awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and college students who were involved with Destination Imagination (DI) through Challenge program participation or volunteerism. Scholarship applicants had the option to submit their applications in one of two categories: Marketing or Tools.

For the Marketing Challenge, applicants were asked to use their creativity, imagination and divergent thinking to help spread the word about DI and describe the program to those who have never experienced it.

For the Tool Challenge, applicants were asked to choose a problem that a DI team might face during the program season and develop a tool to help less experienced teams become better teams.

Their entries were appraised on the creativity and usefulness of their solution to the DISC challenge, as well as their past and continued involvement with Destination Imagination. From stop motion videos to Instant Challenge games to creative activities designed to increase communication and brainstorming skills, the DI Scholarship Committee selected 11 outstanding solutions.

Whether you’re a parent, Team Manager, volunteer or DI-er, we encourage you to check them out!
