Sr. Vice President
Teri Cotton Santos is Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for The Warranty Group, a global provider of extended warranties, service contracts and insurance. In this role, Teri is responsible for implementing a global compliance and risk management program covering over 33 countries in which The Warranty Group operates. Teri has designed, implemented and grown innovative and strategic compliance programs in highly regulated industries.
Teri was previously the Sr. Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for Career Education Corporation where she developed the first compliance and ethics program for this $1.8 billion Fortune 1000 proprietary education services company. Teri served 14 years of her legal career at Eli Lilly and Company, where she held positions of increasing responsibility. As General Counsel for Eli Lilly’s Asian Operations subsidiary, Teri was integral in establishing anti-bribery and Foreign Corrupt Policy Act (FCPA) programs. As an Assistant General Counsel for Litigation and Legal Compliance, she was responsible for litigation management, including mass tort, product liability, shareholder derivative actions, government investigations, and other complex litigation matters. She was also the risk owner for the company’s enterprise risk of litigation. Teri is also a former criminal prosecutor.
Teri is active in the Chicago Regional Ethics Network and the Risk and Insurance Management Society. Teri serves on the Boards of Directors for Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois and the Chicago Wellesley Club. Teri received a Juris Doctorate from the Washington University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts, from Wellesley College. She and her husband currently reside in Evanston, IL.
