Apply for a DISC Scholarship

Want to use your creativity to earn a scholarship?

Thanks to the Destination Imagination (DI) community’s amazing support this past season, the Destination Imagination Scholarship Committee (DISC) will offer up to $30,000 in creativity and volunteerism scholarships to deserving candidates.

To be considered for one of this season’s DISC scholarships, applicants are required to create a solution in one of two categories: Marketing or Tools. For the Marketing Challenge, applicants must use their creativity, imagination and divergent thinking to help spread the word about DI and describe the program to those who have never experienced it. For the Tool Challenge, applicants are required to choose a problem that a DI team might face during the program season and develop a tool to help less experienced teams become better teams. All entries will be appraised on their creativity and usefulness, as well as the applicant’s past and continued involvement with Destination Imagination.

  • Applicants should be graduating from high school or currently pursuing a post high school degree at a trade school, college or university.
  • Applicants must be accepted at a college/university or post-secondary educational institution and planning to attend in the 2016-17 school year. Proof of acceptance will be required before award can be disbursed.
  • Applicants must have participated in Destination Imagination as a team member or as a volunteer and should be actively continuing their involvement in DI in some capacity—either as a team member or as a volunteer.

International Destination Imagination participants are welcome to apply, but please note that materials must be presented in English as DISC does not have translators available. International applicants should also be aware that the awards will be paid to their learning institution in U.S. dollars.

For the DISC Scholarship search, it is the applicant’s creativity and involvement that are deemed most important. We want to see our applicants use their creativity and divergent thinking! The most weight in our scoring is applied to the creativity and usefulness of the solution to our challenges, and the past and continued involvement of the applicant.

Applicants who submit an entry for the Marketing or Tools category may also apply for the Founders Award. DISC established the Founders Award Scholarship in recognition and appreciation of VOMBO, the first booster organization for DI, and its founding members. The award will be given to the applicant who best exemplifies the spirit of VOMBO through volunteering in support of Destination Imagination and its mission.

The deadline to submit your DISC scholarship application is March 1, 2017. Click here for scholarship details and application instructions.
