Andrea Faulkner, Ed. D. is the assistant director for the Urban Support Team in the Office for Exceptional Children at the Ohio Department of Education. A career educator, Dr. Faulkner spent 8 years in the classroom and 7 years as an administrator in one of the largest urban school districts in Ohio. In these roles, she became an advocate for equity and inclusion in underserved communities. Dr. Faulkner has been with the Ohio Department of Education for the past five years, where she has led all facets of school improvement, including grant funding, strategic planning, and implementation of the continuous improvement cycle.
Dr. Faulkner became involved in Destination Imagination 8 years ago, when she was recruited to serve as an Instant Challenge appraiser. She was instantly hooked! Since then, she has served as an appraiser and volunteer at both the regional and affiliate levels.
Dr. Faulkner earned her BA in English and MA in Education from Morehead State University in Kentucky. Currently, she proudly serves on the Morehead Alumni Association Board of Directors. She completed her Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from Northern Kentucky University in 2019. She holds a Professional Human Capital Leaders in Education certification from the American Association of School Personnel Administrators.
Beyond her work and volunteer activities, Dr. Faulkner enjoys traveling, reading, and continuing her own learning. She currently resides in Ohio, where she also helps operate her family’s small farm.
