Kate joined Destination Imagination Colorado as Executive Director in the fall of 2010 and has worked recruiting teams, maintaining budgets, developing sponsorships, training volunteers and organizing many special events including the Affiliate Tournament. She came to this position after volunteering as a team manager for 8 years for her two boys.
Professionally, Kate started out in the Peace Corps and then working for The Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Heart Association. She moved into the marketing field writing customer testimonials for Splash Technology. She also worked as a qualitative market research consultant specializing in education research.
Her favorite aspect of her DI Colorado job involves teaching the creative process to students and adults alike. Bringing creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and communication skills to thousands of people each year.
Kate has an MBA from Santa Clara University and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a BA in British Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado American Marketing Association for 6 years.
Kate is a mother of 2, both of her children competed in Destination Imagination. Her older son is a recent college graduate in Astrophysics and her younger son is a Senior in high school looking to pursue a career in music. She loves walking and hiking in the beautiful Colorado mountains, and loves to read, do crosswords, and plays a mean game of Mario Kart.
