CVS Grant Helps STEM & Literacy Pathways for Early Learners Program Blossom

By: Tina Shaffer

On April 24th representatives of CVS/pharmacy visited the PACE Early Childhood Education/ECE City Terrace School site in Los Angeles to see firsthand how Destination Imagination’s STEM & Literacy Pathways for Early Learners program is changing the lives of many young children. Thanks to a generous grant awarded by CVS to DI, 100 PACE classrooms in LA including City Terrace are utilizing DI's school readiness program which prepares early learners for elementary grades and helps teachers and children embrace STEM and literacy concepts.

CVS/pharmacy representatives joined City Terrace teachers and parents in several engaging Pathways activities including story time with a reading of "Commotion in the Ocean."  Circle time, small group and work time featured an Ocean Creatures Theme.  Children invented a new ocean creature and identified and named sea animals as adult guests role-played with the children in various learning centers in the classroom.

Destination Imagination is grateful to CVS/pharmacy for its partnership, generous support and advocacy for our early learners.
