While the 2014-15 DI season is in full swing, the staff and Board of Trustees at Destination Imagination, Inc., would like to take a moment and express our sincere thanks to our participants, volunteers, Affiliates and supporters for making 2014 such an incredible year.
During the 2013-14 season, volunteers helped expand our outreach to international students. Not only did Qatar become an Affiliate and attend their first Global Finals, DI teams were formed in the Cayman Islands. DI China also had a hugely successful year with 381 new teams formed over 23 regional provinces, as well as the International Invitational.
From innovative Challenge solutions and performances to tackling real-world issues, we were in awe of the 15,444 teams worldwide that shared their creativity with us. We would not have been able to provide this opportunity, however, without our incredible volunteers. From Team Managers to Instant Challenge Masters to Affiliate Directors, the number of volunteers needed to fill our DI roles each and every year is nothing short of amazing. So, the next time you see your Team Manager or attend a tournament, be sure to thank a DI volunteer for all they do.
In addition to our Challenge program, we are grateful for the opportunity to have partnered with renowned organizations such as National Geographic and the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation. We would also like to thank 3M for their continued support and for the opportunity to attend events such as the USA Science & Engineering Festival, where we were able to interact with and new groups of innovators and leaders.
As we enter the tournament season and anticipate the many great things in store for 2015, we invite and encourage you to take a look back at the many highlights of another ground-breaking year by reading our 2014 annual report. Please feel free to provide feedback in the comment section below. With your help, we can continue to provide unequalled programming to students around the world.
