2026-27 Published Clarifications

Clarifications for its Challenge.
The deadline to ask a Team Clarification is January 31, 2027, at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
#1 SEPTEMBER 15, 2026
In the Challenge, Section I.C.4 should read, “In the Prep Area or Launch Area, your team will select 3 numbers that correspond to unchosen Mystery Weights. Mystery Weights that have been previously selected by other teams will not be available. Bags of sand or other material will not be reused at a tournament.”

In the Challenge, Section I.D.8 should read, “At the end of the Presentation, one or two team members will meet with the Testing Appraiser. The Testing Appraiser will check each Mystery Weight to ensure that it is not damaged, modified, or opened. (See Section I.C.7.) Then the Testing Appraiser will verify your team’s estimate for each Mystery Weight. Finally, the Testing Appraiser will verify the actual weight of the Mystery Weights. A scale will be available near the Presentation Area. The Testing Appraiser will instruct the team to place each Mystery Weight on the scale one at a time. Once the scale reading stabilizes, the Testing Appraiser will record the official Mystery Weight weight to the nearest gram.”

In the Challenge, Section I.E.1 should read, “The Estimation Gap for each Mystery Weight will be calculated by subtracting your team’s estimate, as recorded by the Testing Appraiser, from the actual weight, as measured by tournament officials following your team’s Presentation, expressed as a positive number. Your team’s estimate and the actual weight for the Mystery Weight will both be in grams.”
